Introduction to Saunas and Their Health Benefits

A sauna is more than just a place to unwind. It is a sanctuary where health meets relaxation, providing both physical and mental benefits. For centuries, saunas have been used across various cultures to detoxify the body, improve cardiovascular health, and reduce stress levels. Regular sauna sessions can help alleviate conditions such as chronic pain, arthritis, and respiratory issues. They also promote skin health by encouraging deep cleansing through sweating. Bringing the Sauna into the Home: A New Era of Home Wellness

Incorporating a sauna into your home isn't just a luxury; it's an investment in your health and wellbeing. Our founder became passionate about sauna use after a renewed focus on his health and wellbeing after burning out of the tech and startup scene.

The convenience of having a 2 person home sauna means you can enjoy these benefits regularly without needing to travel to a spa and pay for every single use. Whether it's a 2 person infrared sauna for deep heat therapy or a 2 person traditional sauna for a classic steam session, the right sauna can transform your wellness routine.

Previously, owning a personal sauna in your home was considered a high-end luxury. But several factors have contributed to the rise in popularity of home saunas. Here are a few reasons why home saunas are having a moment right now:

  • Technology in saunas has advanced over recent years. It's very common now for saunas to include things like automatic timers, remote controls on a handheld device or app on your phone, chromotherapy light therapy, halotherapy / salt therapy, bluetooth speaker and sound system, and a lot more. It makes owning a sauna at home very attractive to consumers.
  • The rise in globalization has led to domestic sauna companies who outsource their manufacturing to places like China, which allows brands to reduce prices and make owning a home sauna more affordable. This led manufacturers to expand aggressively into the consumer market.
  • Newer technology like Infrared Saunas means that the sauna heaters are much smaller and more compact than traditional electric heaters or wood fire heated saunas. The compact nature of infrared sauna heaters has made them a very popular choice for the home sauna market when considering limited space in your home for such an item.
  • Prices have come down gradually. As we exited the logistical shipping nightmares from the COVID-19 pandemic, wood was no longer in short supply and brought down the cost of saunas. Other parts that are used in making a sauna are readily available and there are many manufacturers of sauna heaters of all types.
  • Consumer finance technology has changed purchase behavior dramatically over the last 5+ years. Using financing technologies like Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) allow customers to “pay in 4” or spread out their payments over 4, 6, or 12 months. Kind of like layaway back in the day at Kmart! eSteamed Saunas offers a Buy Now Pay Later purchase option in our checkout flow, just look for Shop Pay Installments.

Moreover, the cost of a home sauna for 2 people is relatively economical when considering the long-term health benefits and the convenience of access it provides.

How much space do I need for a 2 Person Sauna?

Depending on whether you're looking to go with an outdoor 2 person sauna or an indoor 2 person sauna, you'll need to review some saunas you like to see what their sizes are. Aside from its assembled dimensions, you'll need some extra space around the sauna, as it's not recommended to have them right up against the wall. They'll need some room to breathe, depending on the model somewhere between 6” - 18”. In the case of a traditional indoor sauna, perhaps more on the side of the wall where the vent is.

TIP: If you're looking for the exact dimensions of a sauna or the recommended space around the sauna, you should be able to find those things in the product description. If not, feel free to reachout to us and we're happy to help!

How Hard is It to Build or Assemble a 2 Person Sauna kit?

Building a sauna kit for 2 people can be straightforward with the right tools and instructions. Most home sauna kits are designed for DIY assembly, which can be completed in a few hours. These kits include pre-cut parts, hardware, and detailed assembly instructions.

Highlights: SunRay, Golden Designs, Dynamic and Maxxus brands use a clasping assembly mechanism to assemble the larger pieces (like the walls) so you don't have to use a drill to screw parts together. Enlighten uses an interlocking system for similar ease of assembly. Note that not ALL parts of the sauna will be assembled with this easy latch or clasp system, some parts will certainly need to be screwed together, and often manufacturers may recommend using some caulking as well around certain areas to ensure it's sealed tightly to keep the hot air inside.

It's recommended you have at least 2 people for assembly for a 2 person sauna, as you'll need one person to hold up the walls or structure while the other person fastens the parts together. For larger models like 5 people or more, then it may require more people to assemble.

Electrical Requirements for a 2 Person Home Sauna

This is a very important step! It is by far the most overlooked element of sauna purchases since there is considerable power required to operate a sauna. This is our #1 recommendation for folks who are just starting their research journey and looking at what is needed to buy a sauna, and what kind of sauna to get.

Electrical installations should be handled by a professional to ensure safety and compliance with local codes. 2 person infrared saunas typically require a standard 120-volt outlet, but there definitely are models that may require a heavier 240-volt outlet. In nearly all instances, manufacturers recommend a dedicated circuit breaker for your sauna so the power on that breaker is not shared with other outlets or electronics. For a 2 person sauna, a 20 amp or 30 amp breaker should usually be sufficient, unless it's a hybrid model. It's crucial to check the specifications of your sauna model and discuss the requirements with a qualified electrician. We've included this information in the product descriptions as much as we possibly can to make sure it's clear before you buy.

What Are Some Standard Features in Most 2 Person Saunas?

Standard features in two-person saunas include built-in heating systems, comfortable seating, tempered glass doors, and lighting. High-end models may also offer additional features such as Bluetooth audio systems, aromatherapy holders, and customizable controls. Infrared saunas often include carbon or ceramic heaters that provide gentle, evenly distributed heat.

Choosing the Right 2 Person Sauna for Your Home

When selecting a 2 person sauna, consider the following factors:

  • Type of Sauna: Decide between an infrared sauna, which uses light to create heat, or a traditional sauna, which heats the air to warm the body. If you're not sure what's what, check out our article here about the different types of saunas.
  • Electrical Capacity: Most saunas will require a dedicated breaker, sometimes two depending on the kind of sauna you get and its size. Once you have something in mind, call an electrician before you buy a sauna and share the requirements with them to make sure it's doable. You may need to hire the electrician to install or wire up the electrical components.
  • Material Quality: Look for saunas made from high-quality, durable materials such as Canadian hemlock or cedar, which are both beautiful and resistant to moisture and decay.
  • Heating Element: Ensure the sauna's heater is suitable for your needs, whether it's ceramic heaters for infrared saunas or a sturdy stove for traditional saunas.
  • Features: Consider saunas with additional features like chromotherapy (color therapy) or hydrotherapy for enhanced relaxation and health benefits.
  • Warranty and Support: Always check the warranty and customer support offered by the manufacturer to ensure your investment is protected.

It's a Lot to Consider!

A 2 person sauna can be a transformative addition to your home, offering a private oasis for relaxation and health improvement.
